0 CommentsWritten by Adrian FletcherFiled Under: Spain

Spain remains as popular as ever to visit. Many people are fascinated by it diverse cultural heritage and many places to see. If you are planning on visiting the real Spain then listen to a few of these tips first.

The best advice you can get if you want to get off the beaten track is to learn a bit of the language. Even if you don’t get off the beaten track, speaking the language will make your time there immeasurably better.

Many people in Madrid and Barcelona will speak English but many more won’t speak English. Speaking simple phrases will make you day to day life easier. If you have a good command of the language then you can even make friends and acquaintances on your travels. You may even get insiders or local knowledge on good things to see or do. You may get better deals too as they know you are not a naive tourist.

Another tip is to try to get your travel plans organized. If you can plan ahead to some extent you can save plenty of cash on prebooked train, plane and bus fares. If you are on a budget like most backpackers are then this advice will be a godsend. The more money you have to spend when you get to where you are traveling the more fun you will be able to have.

It has been known to rain in Spain, despite the best intentions of vocal coaches. This is more a case in the north of the country and in high ground. If you don’t want your trip to be ruined by the weather then go to Spain in the spring or early summer. With this said, the south of Spain is probably one of the sunnier parts of Europe so you should be okay there. Best advice is start at the north and work your way down.

Madrid and Barcelona are the two major cities that you want to spend some time in. There is plenty to see and do in these two cities. You can spend weeks in each but if you are on a time line a few days may suffice. If you only have a few days get organized and see the things you really want to do.

But Spain has much more to offer than Madrid and Barcelona. From North to South and East to West you can get all over Spain on the fast train. This can get you from Madrid to Gibraltar in a few hours. It might not have the time on a plane but you get to see the country as you travel and it is much more relaxing than a plane.

Spain is a super place to travel to and you will have a great time if you just plan for your trip properly.
